Improvisation for Team Building & Company Culture

Improv is the art of discovering characters, environments, stories —entire shows!—on the spot. Learning improv sharpens your ability to listen and collaborate and accept even the wildest ideas constructively. It's spontaneous generation.

It's also a powerful tool for building better teams and strengthening your company culture. Improv gives you more clarity, unlocks creativity you never know you had, and brings more trust and vulnerability in a safe, open, and fun way.

I can teach you and your team to harness this unique art form in your work, culture, and maybe even put on a show of your own.

Improv is all about change and adaptability, so I never offer the same workshop or session twice. Every collaboration is unique to you and your needs. That said, I have three flavors to choose from to kickstart how I build your session(s).

Improv for team building

Every team on the planet deals with miscommunication, inefficiency, lack of trust, and other pesky dynamics issues. Improv is an effective and fun way to smash through all these challenges. In this type of workshop, we'll use improv exercises and skills to listen better, communicate clearly, get to the heart of matters with expediency and gusto, and foster a safer working environment. And have heaps of fun doing it. This flavor of workshop will help your team members collaborate faster and clearer, focus on the right stuff, and champion one another's efforts with joy.

Time: 2-3 hours (but any amount of time works).

Team size: 3 to infinity.

Experience required: None!

Improv for wild creativity

Have you ever faced a challenge with your team or colleagues and everyone's eyes are glazed over, the will to come up with something a bit outside the box flattened? This happens all the time in modern work culture, especially with generative AI disrupting creative (and all) fields with such force. Improv is the ultimate counter-spell for this phenomenon. This type of workshop focuses more on getting your people to share their biggest and boldest ideas, dig into them to find the usable nuggets, and inspire one another when they're stuck. Your team will come away from this workshop better equipped to find the fun in their work (and that of their peers) and access creativity they didn't know they had.

Time: 2-3 hours (but any amount of time works).

Team size: 3 to infinity.

Experience required: None!

Become an ensemble in one day

Ask any improviser and they'll tell you the same thing: the best way to learn improv—and get the most out of it—is to do it. In this all-day workshop, I'll convert your team into a comedy ensemble and teach you the skills and games to put on a hilarious showcase for your peers that very same day. Perfect for full team building days, company events, and weekends away.

Time: Five hours minimum. With a showcase at the end (I can help plan this as well).

Team size: 5 to infinity.

Experience required: None!

Any other details? Yeah! As this workshop is designed to end in a show, I do ask participants to do a little homework. This includes watching fun comedy videos prior (I'll curate a few) for inspiration and expectation setting, and making sure the work/team day is clear so we can focus as an ensemble.

My biggest claim to fame has been co-founding Tag Out Theatre, an Amsterdam-based company that has organized hundreds of shows, workshops, and special events over nearly ten years. This venture helped build the local scene in Amsterdam and incubated an enormous flock of talent. Currently on hiatus!

Before taking Amsterdam by storm, I was an associate director, producer, and actor for the Barcelona Improv Group. I helped professionalize the group early on, and supported the Barcelona Improv Group International Festival, one of the biggest improv arts festivals at the time.

I have had the absolute pleasure of taking part in one of Isaac's improv masterclasses, and can only offer the highest of recommendations. He is an incredible instructor whose passion and sense of humor shines through at every moment, and it's a brilliant way to not just connect with people, but to become present with them in a fundamentally different way than ever before. For whatever the event, work, team, or social; you needn't look further.

I was particularly impressed by his ability to quickly read his students and adapt the lesson plan on the fly. He designed customized challenges for each of us based on his very accurate assessment of areas in which we could improve. I trust that Isaac can bring insight, positivity, adaptability and a backpack full of improv knowledge to any teaching situation.
